In a recent statement to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan, Mr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Seyi Makinde, highlighted the Oyo State Government's commitment to ensuring accessible housing for its people. Olanrewaju emphasized that shelter is a fundamental human need and should be within reach of every citizen. He outlined the government's strategy of partnering with private firms like Fendini Homes to develop housing estates across the state.
Explaining the rationale behind these partnerships, Olanrewaju pointed out that such collaborations stimulate economic growth. By providing affordable housing options, particularly for those unable to fund independent building projects, the government aims to alleviate the demand for public housing. This approach not only supports individuals in owning homes but also generates employment opportunities for local artisans and suppliers of building materials.
"The economic benefits are manifold," Olanrewaju stated. "These developments will inject revenue into the state through tenanment rates and stimulate economic activities in sectors like construction and hospitality."
Since 2019, the Makinde administration has also increased housing loans for civil servants, recognizing the inadequacy of previous loan schemes. Olanrewaju assured that these efforts cater to all segments of society, ensuring comprehensive welfare support.
Prince Adelaja Adeoye, CEO of Fendini Homes, elaborated on their joint venture with the government to construct 400 housing units in Ibadan. The Rayfield Gardens City Estate project, spanning 22 hectares, aims to set a new standard in housing development within Oyo State. Adeoye emphasized the integration of residential and commercial spaces, including a three-star hotel, shopping malls, and recreational facilities, all designed to enhance community living.
"Our vision is to create a smart estate that exemplifies modern living," Adeoye affirmed. "This project not only addresses the housing deficit but also boosts the local economy by attracting diverse economic activities."
Fendini Homes pledges to uphold the highest standards in delivering this ambitious project, aiming to establish it as the premier real estate destination in Oyo State.
